The Quick

Standard

I spent much of this novel feeling conflicted: it was *not* what I expected, and yet the surprises worked; there were too many characters, and many of them felt like throw aways, and yet the ones Owen really developed I couldn’t get enough of; the way the narrative was presented felt both disjointed and choppy, and at the same time it made perfect sense to move the story forward. In the end I really enjoyed The Quick, and look forward to seeing what’s next for Lauren Owen. And as an aside, the audio performance was great; Simon Slater reading the character of Liza was fantastic.
